My main academic interest has always been in biology both in school years and at university where I got a degree in microbiology. It was then that I first met acupuncture, as a patient; it sorted out chronic sinusitis to my surprise. A few years lumberjacking in Scotland, then work in commercial computer systems which ultimately funded the five years that I needed to retrain in Chinese medicine theory with acupuncture, and then herbalism, as the treatment methods. Fortunately the computer systems work also trained my chaotic mind in logic problem solving; a skill which you need to succesfully practice Chinese medicine.
I started working in the osteopathy practice established by Roger Giddings and we developed ways of integrating acupuncture and osteopathy in chronic back pain; also learning the relative strengths of the two modalities. Since then the practice has grown significantly but this ethos of integration has grown with it.
Chinese medicine allows us to work towards understanding complex patterns of illness; I studied pulse diagnosis under students of Dr John Shen who was a renowned diagnostician, having himself studied in a lineage of pulse masters in pre-revolutionary China. Further studies of classical ideas in Chinese medicine theory means that I find myself, year by year, better able to understand and treat complex conditions. |

Having trained and worked in California,
USA, in the 1990's I realised why America wins most of the gold
medals in the Olympics!!!
Their approach to rehabilitating injuries is vastly more dynamic
than the 'traditional' methods usually employed in Britain. An important
part of rehabilitation is addressing the injury quickly, preferably within hours.
Speedy treatment and rehabilitation facilitates maximal recovery and return
to normal use, but only if it's done properly.
Adapting techniques to suit the individual person and injury
I use these same dynamic, tried and tested methods, which means
that, if they're good enough for Olympic athletes, then they're good
enough for you (and your next gold medal!). |

Since completing a BSc Hons in podiatry, I have worked in both
the NHS and in private practices in Kent and Surrey. I recently
moved to Cambridge and am happy to have joined the multiple therapy
team at Physic as I strongly believe in treating patients holistically.
Being able to cross-refer with other therapists as appropriate,
I feel brings many advantages to our patients.
I offer the full range of podiatry (chiropody) treatments for
problems relating to the feet and lower limbs and have a special
interest in nail surgery and prevention of diabetic related foot
problems. I am also a volunteer podiatrist for the Medical
Foundation, which is based in London and offers specialised care and
treatment for victims of torture.

Palmer
I trained at Northampton University School of Podiatry. Before
joining the NHS in Cambridge I worked with diabetic patients in
Ukraine for 3 months. In 2002 I became a full-time private practitioner
and joined Physic on October 2003.
Qualifying in all areas of podiatry I specialise in insole therapy
dealing with poor biomechanics (structure & function) of the
feet, which can lead to pain in the lower limbs and upper body.
I am a trustee and lecturer for the charity ‘Footcare International’,
promoting diabetic footcare in Ukraine.
I have 3 published papers, always hoping to improve patient treatment.
Incredibly, I am still highly motivated and believe strongly in
educating patients to prevent or reduce future problems.

I am a Graduate Member of the Shiatsu Society UK, and trained with the Shiatsu College in Cambridge.
I have always enjoyed giving massage since my grandfather taught me the basics to ease his shoulder tension. I discovered that touch has a language of its own. It is the first communication we respond to when we are born.
During my Shiatsu training I met a Reiki Master and chose to train with her to develop my awareness of energy. I have trained to Level 3 in the Usui Reiki system.
My training focus has since been on working with the body’s energy.
To see how all beings are connected through energy, and instead of feeling overwhelmed with the suffering that is part of this world, listen to Ghandi’s wise words that change begins with the self. |
